The Ocean Park Cable Car gets you from the Waterfront to the Summit and back, but more than just a transportation option, it is an attraction in itself with some of the most spectacular views of the bays...
... the surrounding islands and as far as the South China Sea.
Cable Cars run continuously from both stations. Here are the cars leaving the Waterfront station.
Besides the amazing panoramas and the great photo opportunities, the cable car ride gives you a great chance to get your bearings around the park.
We were able to spot most of the major display attractions like the Grand Aquarium and the Panda Adventure.
The views of the entire Waterfront open up minutes after you get underway from the lower terminus.
Cable Car Views of the Waterfront and AquaCity
As you approach the Summit and the Roller Coasters and rides become visible, the kids will already be taking inventory and planning their course, they will be able to zoom in exactly in which direction they will head first and which rides they will "do".
Approaching the Station at the Summit
It takes about 15 minutes for the 1.5km one-way ride and each individual cable car has room for 6 people.
We thoroughly enjoyed the ride and definitely recommend you take it at least once during your visit, specially on a clear day...
The Cable Cars and Fantastic Views of Aberdeen In The Background
But be aware that as this is a very popular ride, the lines and waits can be long. Best times is early in the morning or later in the afternoon when crowds recede.
Another way to get around from the Waterfront to the Summit and vice versa, and the best option if the lines for the Cable Car are long, is with the Ocean Express Tram.
