November is the time to get outdoors and enjoy the pleasant temperatures and clear days without the overwhelming humidity of the summer months.

A light jacket and dressing in layers is probably best as there will be some warm days with temperatures dropping a bit at night.

November is Hong Kong's Wine and Dine Month and features an array of food festivals, street carnivals and fairs. Clockenflap and the Lan Kwai Fong Carnival are back.

Symphony Under The Stars, the International Light Installations and Lumières Hong Kong, inspired by Lyon's famous Festival of Lights will dazzle the Central Harbourfront.

For motor racing enthusiasts, the Macau Grand Prix is taking place this month! Enjoy!

Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival - Cancelled

Next Door in Macau: The Macau Grand Prix 2019

Four days of non-stop heart-stopping action, screeching tires, racing engines, checkered flags... and adrenaline overload! Without a doubt this is Macau's most prestigious event in the annual calendar.

International Light Art Installations at the Central Harbourfront - Not Confirmed for 2019 - 2020

There are some fantastic light art installations set up every year in the Central Harbourfront just in time for the holiday season. The collection includes selected light art pieces by artists from Hong Kong and overseas, including Belgium, France, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Singapore and the USA.

Some are interactive displays, some are walk-through, many with sound and music effects...

When?: 2019 - 2020 season installations to be confirmed, typically would run from November 2019 through February 2020 - illumination time from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, except light up on opening night at 7:45 pm

Lan Kwai Fong Japan Carnival - Not confirmed for 2019

One huge street party... as if this wasn't already the liveliest spot in Hong Kong, during this annual Carnival, Lan Kwai Fong really puts on the show.

And with new twists every year... the Lan Kwai Fong Carnival has gone interactive! Don't forget to download the LKF Play app! The theme is Japanese and will celebrate the culture and traditions of Japanese cuisine, fashion, music and dance.

The carnival will feature over 40 booths of authentic Japanese delicacies, selection of Japanese sake, Shochu and a varied line up of fun-filled entertainment and of course the legendary Lan Kwai Fong Carnival Parade

Highlights include traditional Japanese street dance performances, Yukata (Japanese traditional costume) experience, Japanese sake education, Nintendo Switch free game trials, and of course food booths serving freshly made unique Sake cocktails, Wagyu beef, Matsuba snow crabs and much more!

Lumières Hong Kong - Postponed Until Further Notice

Inspired by Lyon, France's "La Fête des Lumières" (The Festival of Lights) Hong Kong welcomed its first Lumières Hong Kong in 2017 when the city was enveloped by fantastic light installations creating that magical atmosphere this festival is so well-known for.

Lumières Hong Kong aiming at promoting Hong Kong's heritage history and culture through light projections and which was to be back in 2019 but sadly has been postponed, will still offer a series of walking tours through the city free of charge.

When: LumieresHK: Let the Story Tell - Walking Tour in Central & Sheung Wan on November 3, 10, 2019 in Cantonese and November 17, 2019 in English

Hong Kong Christmas and Holiday Events

Hong Kong Chrismtas and Holiday events sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board kick-off late November/early December and run up until the New Year's Countdown on January 1st.

One of the highlights is the Christmas Tree or centrepiece in Central's Statue Square, which becomes the season's icon and is always a stunner.

Other events include light installations and interactive displays along the waterfront, and of course, all shopping malls and hotels will go all out with their displays and holiday events.

The Symphony of Lights

The Symphony of Lights is Hong Kong's light and sound show, a tribute to the city and its people, their diversity, energy and vitality.

The stage is the entire city, which is what makes it so unique, you can watch the lights from just about anywhere in the waterfront. This free show offered by the city, takes place every night at 8:00 pm and lasts about 12 minutes.

The Horse Races Are On! This is how you can attend

The horse races in Hong Kong whether or not you are a horse racing enthusiast is an experience not to be missed!

The beautiful horses, the skillful jockeys, the crowds going wild, they all add up to an exciting, fun-filled, thrilling atmosphere in two world-class venues, at the Sha Tin Racecourse and the iconic Happy Valley Racecourse.

The Happy Valley race course itself is a sight in itself, the city has built around it through the years and it is now practically surrounded by skyscrapers, an awesome experience specially at night when the city is illuminated.

When?: Happy Valley Night Races on Wednesday Nights. On race day, first race starts at 7:15 p.m. and the gates open at 5:15 p.m. The races are done by 11:00 p.m.
Sha Tin Day Races are on Sundays. First race normally starts at 1:00 pm, earlier if there are more than 10 races. Gates open at 11:00 am.
All races will be streamed live at the HK Jockey Club Racing Channel.
How Much? There are many ways to experience the races, from General Stand to Private Boxes and special packages including dinner and drinks. General Stand entrance starts at HK10.
